June, A Time To Reevaluate

A flurry of excitement is ushered in with the month of June. The school year ends, Mother Nature lures everyone outside into the sunshine, onto and into the water. For some, business slows down providing a much-needed break. We get to celebrate those who are fathers. And, we welcome with trepidation the beginning of hurricane season.

For the most part, pleasantries are associated with the month of June. Half the year is behind us, so it’s a good time to take stock of where you are with your personal as well as professional goals. This is the kind of activity that can be done while lounging by the pool just as easily as at your desk. So, do get out into the fresh air as you ponder the progress you’ve made and the areas where you see there’s room for improvement.

Be gentle with yourself as you assess where you are compared with where you thought you would be. Ask yourself if there are things you might have done that would have put you closer to your goal. If there are still opportunities to do those things, put them on your to-do list and get them done as quickly as possible.

Once you’ve made your assessment, set new goals that will carry you through to the end of the year. This is the time to determine if you need to weed out unproductive activities and plant new seeds that will be more fruitful. Most importantly, don’t give in to fear or create a storm. Enjoy the time of new growth for the seeds you planted earlier in the year to blossom and know that the new ones you are planting now will lead to your ultimate goal.
